This is the first official piece of music to crystallize from the quarantine.
I set out with the intention to strip everything down and make a mediation track that's immersive and easy to sit with but still (hopefully) interesting and feels like it could come from Infinite Third in 2020.
Sometimes when I'm working on super abstract music like this, I can lean toward trying to do too much and forget to just keep it simple. With Make Well, I was able to exercise some newfound sonic restraint. Throughout the whole process, I learned a lot about sound in general and I'm thankful for that. Instead of focusing on how to make things flashier or more exciting, I dug into the more straightforward (yet sometimes less obvious) aspects such as fine tuning the dynamics and monitoring the perceived loudness of the overall song. There are all these phantom harmonies that seem to melt into your experience subconsciously if you let them.
Most importantly, Make Well is meant to simply give you a half hour to really drop in and be with yourself and I hope you enjoy the space it creates.
